Life Receipts Privacy Policy

Life Receipts is designed as a local-first app for saving structured records of real-world conversations, purchases, repairs, appointments, warranties, promises, documents, and follow-ups.

Data we process

If you use cloud features, we process: account details (email, display name, sign-in provider), your synced receipts and their attachments, the contents of emails you forward to your capture address, and technical records (hashed session tokens, AI-usage counters, your capture alias). We do not collect payment card data (Apple handles purchases) or any advertising/tracking identifiers.

Local-first storage

Receipts, attachments, reminders, language preferences, and app lock settings are stored on your device by default. Life Receipts does not require an account.

Optional cloud sync

If you create an account and use Sync, your profile, receipt backup, and small attachment payloads for scans/imported files/voice recordings may be stored on the Life Receipts backend so you can restore data on a new device.

Optional cloud AI

Cloud AI is optional and is off by default. If you enable cloud AI in the app settings, receipt text, voice transcripts, receipt summaries, and questions you submit may be sent to the Life Receipts backend to generate structured drafts, answers, follow-up messages, and dispute summaries.

AI endpoints do not intentionally store receipt content or AI outputs. OpenAI API requests are sent with storage disabled. OpenAI processes this content only as our processor under its API terms: it does not use it to train its models and does not retain it beyond limited abuse monitoring.

Email capture (optional)

If you enable email capture, emails you forward to your personal capture address are processed by the backend to create receipts and are stored with your account until you acknowledge or delete them. Forwarded emails may contain information about third parties; only forward content you are entitled to share.

Service providers

We use a small number of processors strictly to run the service: Railway (backend hosting and storage), OpenAI (cloud AI processing, only when you enable it), Cloudflare (email routing for capture), and Apple and Google (for Sign in with Apple / Google sign-in that you initiate). We do not sell your data and do not use it for advertising.

Data retention and deletion

Local data stays until you delete it on the device. Cloud-synced data is kept while your account exists. You can permanently delete your account and all of its server-side data at any time from the app (Profile → edit → Delete account); this removes your profile, synced receipts, captures, and sessions. Backups may persist for a short period before being overwritten.

Your rights

Depending on your location (including the EU/EEA and UK under GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or erase your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. You can exercise access, export, and erasure directly through in-app account deletion and profile backup, or by contacting us.

Tracking and advertising

Life Receipts does not use advertising identifiers, third-party advertising SDKs, or cross-app tracking.

Permissions

The app may ask for permissions such as camera, photo library, microphone, speech recognition, notifications, and Face ID or device authentication. These permissions are used only for app features you choose to use.

Professional advice

Life Receipts helps organize information and follow-ups. It does not provide legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice. AI-generated drafts and summaries may be inaccurate; review them before relying on them.
